At Notre Dame Academy, we believe that global mindedness in the context of education is pivotal to the growth and development of all learners. The International Baccalaureate Program seeks to provide an education that teaches students to make complex connections to the world around them, as well as equipping them with the necessary skills needed for taking responsible action for the future.
At Notre Dame Academy, Marist is how you live and IB is how you learn.
The International Baccalaureate aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable, and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.

To this end, the organization works with schools, governments and international organizations to develop challenging programmes of international education and rigorous assessment.

These programmes encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.

At its heart, the International Baccalaureate (IB) Programme is motivated by the mission to create a better world through education. The IB curriculum moves beyond test scores or grades to develop the whole child so students can build the skills, empathy, and confidence necessary to thrive in today's global world. We know that every student has unique gifts. As an IB school, students are encouraged to determine their own learning styles, allowing the teachers to direct their learning through a flexible framework. Teachers are the architects of learning, not just the deliverer of it. The IB aims to develop inquiring, caring, and knowledgeable young people who are ready for whatever the future holds.

  • Learner Profile

At the center of all IB programmes is the individual learner and, like all IB World schools we believe these attributes, and others like them, can help individuals and groups become responsible members of local, national and global communities. At Notre Dame Academy, we pair these attributes with the Marist Charisms to provide a one-of-a kind guide for our students and community in not only the classroom but also life.

  • What is an IB Education?

As stated in our mission, “Notre Dame Academy strives to foster individual academic growth, moral responsibility, and global mindedness in each child” and “combines knowledge and faith to form wisdom and life vision.” In tandem with our Marist Catholic identity and values, the IB educational framework and philosophy are central to not only the development of academic growth, moral responsibility, and global mindedness but also the knowledge and wisdom at the core of our mission. An IB Education provides meaningful classroom experiences placed in a real world context to support authentic student understanding in support of that mission.

Why International Baccalaureate?

An International Baccalaureate education develops students holistically to be caring, inquiring, globally-minded people who strive to make a better world. As a Marist Catholic school, we offer an IB education because it aligns perfectly with our commitment to fostering individual academic growth, moral responsibility, and global mindedness while also working to honor God and live more like Mary every day. Moreover, the semper altius, growth mindset that an IB education fosters prepares our students to persevere through adversity and make a positive impact on their world in college and beyond.

Every student who graduates from Notre Dame Academy receives a college preparatory diploma that prepares them for success in the next phases of their lives. Additionally, students who choose to enroll in International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma classes have the opportunity to receive IB certificates that may grant them college credit and, if full IB Diploma students, to receive an IB Diploma that can provide them admission to universities around the world.

With an emphasis on developing inquiring students who excel as multitaskers, presenters, researchers, thinkers, and writers, an IB education prepares students to be able and empowered as they move into the next stages of their lives in college and beyond.
